Success Story
“His journey is a testament to the power of personalized care and the importance of treating the whole person—not just the diagnosis.”
Alex Lugo was admitted to Crimson Heights with a diagnosis of malignant neoplasm of the connective and soft tissue. At the time of evaluation, he required maximum assistance for bed mobility, upper and lower body dressing, was totally dependent for transfers, and unable to perform gait or mobility tasks.
As part of a holistic treatment plan—which included not only physical rehabilitation but also engaging in meaningful activities like practicing his favorite hobby, fishing—Alex made remarkable progress.
By discharge, he was modified independent with bed mobility and upper body dressing, required standby assistance for lower body dressing and gait, and completed transfers with just supervision assistance.
Now, Alex is excited to return home and get back to doing what he loves most: fishing. His journey is a testament to the power of personalized care and the importance of treating the whole person—not just the diagnosis.
